Write your heart.
Three little words that can feel impossible. And yet, it is so simple. Snippets of life that catch our interest, memories so vivid we can taste them on our tongue. Moments that find us gazing at the world in a new way next to moments when we can’t make sense of life. And, most importantly, the fullness of life that flows from time spent with the one who knows our hearts better than we do ourselves.
This collection is all of that and more, as what pours from the heart is recorded in celebration, in pondering, in remembrance, and in worship.
Write Your Heart is Megan Ellenberger’s first poetry collection and includes a foreword by Lisa Lynn Ericson, author of Vibrant Simplicity.
They opened my eyes and my heart to see God in ways I hadn’t before.

2025: Gifts & Grace
On January second, I sat in my car in the parking lot of Good’s and Dutch-Way and talked on the phone for 45 minutes, thankful my winter coat was keeping me warm. It was the first of many conversations to come with the guy who would become my boyfriend. The very next day, amid some snow flurries, I finally bought a new (to me) car exactly a month after mine was totaled. Two days later, that guy – Curtis – and I met for the first time at a coffee shop (over tea and hot chocolate).
And thus began my crazy, beautiful, whirlwind of a year.
Behind the Poem: Two Pieces of Wood
Welcome to the first “Behind the Poem” blog post, where I’ll be giving a bit of a story behind a poem from my book, Write Your Heart. Enjoy the glimpse behind the curtain of poetic words!
Around 1:00 in the morning, those of us who were participating in our youth group’s late night worship entered the dimly-lit sanctuary. From the sound booth in the back, our youth pastor started the music and I settled onto the carpet in the left corner of the stage, sitting in the shadows with my notebook next to me.
2024: One Step at a Time
2024 was the fastest year I’ve ever experienced, and looking back, it was filled with little things (like watching my 1-yr-old niece pet bluebells in the yard and seeing an otter while kayaking down a creek) and bigger things (such as watching the solar eclipse in my backyard with tears welling in my eyes in awe of God’s incredible creation). Will you join me on a journey through 2024?
